There is a funny article on the Washington Post Express in the Dear Manolo column where he describes hordes of brides and mothers to be rampaging across in the country in the quest to find the perfect pair of shoes for the big day. Basically the older you are the flatter the shoe should be.
In the end Manolo suggests that the bride and the mother of the bride settle for a pair of silver strappy flats. You can get all kinds of versions of these but the to-die-for style is apparently the Emily from Kate Spade that retails for about $275.00. In fact if there is to be at any mother son dancing at the wedding reception flats are definitely to be recommended.
He likes these shoes as they are comfortable and have a bit of a rubberized sole so nobody falls flat on their face on the dance floor after a few drinks. Manolo has a point as the older you are the more prone you are to bunions, calf pains and other problems that could possibly prevent you from dancing.
